K-SMART in Kerala: Getting Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates Online

K-SMART is the Kerala government's platform for local body services. It brings many services from grama panchayats, municipalities and corporations together in one place, so that you don't always have to visit an office.

K-SMART stands for Kerala Solution for Managing Administrative Reformation and Transformation. It replaces a number of separate software systems with a single web portal and a mobile app.

What can you do on K-SMART?

Local bodies handle services such as:

• Birth and death registration and certificates
• Marriage registration
• Building permits
• Property tax

The K-SMART portal shows the services and applications available to you, and they can vary by local body.

How to apply

1. Open the K-SMART portal or the mobile app and sign in.
2. Choose your local body and the service you need.
3. Fill in the details, attach any documents and pay the fee, if there is one.
4. Keep your acknowledgement. K-SMART can send it to your login, WhatsApp and email.

Not comfortable doing it online?

The same services can be reached through Akshaya centres, Kudumbashree help desks and other citizen service centres for a small fee. You can also ask at your local body's front office.
